A "Core Resource" is defined as a service facility, piece of equipment or shared space that is widely accessible to UC Irvine researchers, irrespective of their faculty/department affiliation.

A "Collaborative Resource" is defined as a piece of equipment or shared space that is:

• Owned by a single investigator or group of investigators that use the equipment primarily for their own research.
• The owner(s) is willing to allow others to use the resource under certain conditions and agreements and on a case-by-case basis.
